Monday Madness — February 25, 2019

Friends, it’s time for a brand-new episode of Monday Madness, featuring what Lent Madness historians believe is the first-ever double video post! Yes, brace yourselves, settle in with a giant cauldron of popcorn, and enjoy TWO videos embedded in this single post.

This week on Monday Madness, Tim and Scott discuss their shock at having once again been passed over for an Academy Award. Still, they soldier on, sharing Lenten joy and sanctoral smackdowns the world over.

Despite their dejection and outright rejection, Tim and Scott are pleased to share what is perhaps the definitive recording of the Official Lent Madness Hymn. You may recall that the Lent Madness global viewing public chose among three options penned by Hymn Writer in Residence Sr. Diana. A new version of “The glory of these forty days” is now the Official Hymn of Lent Madness. We’re grateful to organist & director of music David Sinden and rector Fr. Luke Jernagan — and their whole congregation — for offering this wonderful recording from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in St. Louis, Missouri. We’re also pleased to see that at St. Peter’s, as at churches in all of Christendom, nobody sits in the first few pews.

Besides playing this hymn over and over again, we encourage you to binge-watch Monday Madness or head over to the Lentorium to load up on Lent Madness goodies. The Supreme Executive Committee also provides plenty of FREE stuff, so do not despair if you don’t want to open your wallet.

Until next week…

Great singing! And how clever to have the choir along the walls to help the congregation catch the melody. Maybe next week they’ll sing in parts?

We would have sung in parts had parts been provided, but as we were doing the OFFICIAL Lent Madness Hymn, which was melody line only, we sang the melody line.

My only regret is that Scrawny MacNugget, our choir mascot (a rubber chicken with a fabulous wardrobe; here he was, of course, in choir dress) is almost invisible. He is, however, one of the things that makes us special as a choir and as a parish.

Anyway, it is a huge honor to be featured in Monday Madness!

To be fair, two of the people who usually sit in the first few rows were recording for us!

Love the official hymn! The lyrics are so in keeping with the spirit of Lent Madness and the season of the Church. A true treat.

I’m looking forward to a truly personal Lenten Journey this year. Ill be completing 6 months of difficult chemo treatments with my next infusion (of 3) scheduled the first Thursday in Lent, then one week off, then three more infusions, with the last one the Thursday before Holy Week. Praying for it to be tolerable, so that I can also enjoy Lent Madness and that I will feel well for Holy Week and Blessed Easter Sunday!

Denise, may your treatments go quickly and may they be successful. I pray that things go well and that you will feel fully resurrected by Easter. You will be in my prayers.

It would be great to have music & lyrics for the official Lent Madness hymn available. As well as the other hymns that were not selected. Maybe you could do a Lent Madness Hymnal?
    Just a thought……

I thought that the first few pews were supposed to be left empty, “For All the Saints”

Enjoying the sense of humor here.

Thanks to the organizers, leaders, supporters, etc., for taking risks, moving outside of spiritual comfort zones.

Wondering where, exactly, the Holy Spirit is leading here?
