Monday Madness — Kitsch Kranks Edition

Every year around this time, the Kitsch Kranks come out of the woodwork. These are Lent Madness fans who enjoy the first two rounds of the Saintly Smackdown but who do not enjoy the Elate Elate, the Round of the Saintly Kitsch. So they try to toss their humorless wet blanket on everyone else. Well, rejoice, fans, because Tim and Scott take on the Kitsch Kranks in this week’s episode of Monday Madness.

There’s another important reminder. Today is the last day to send us your #LentMadness #MugShot if you want a chance to win your own Ultimate Saintly Kitsch, a life-size cutout of St. Francis of Assisi. Post your photos on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. Just make sure they’re public, so the SEC can see them! Remember to double-hashtag them #LentMadness #MugShot.

It’s never a bad idea to visit the Lentorium or binge-watch Monday Madness. And keep telling your friends and neighbors about the Madness. It’s only going to get more maddening and more fun as we head toward the Faithful Four, the Championship, and the Golden Halo.

This is here for social media sharing. Move right on along.

Love the kids communion kit. Is it “real” and if so where can we find it?

Where did you find the reference to the kids communion kit? I know where to find the product but where did you hear/see about it here? I’m missing some kitsch I fear.

We have several for anyone who might hold a gathering off-site for kids. I think they are a wonderful support. Unbreakable, kid-friendly, way to show the items for liturgy and/or prayer!

I would have loved too. I thought communion wafers would be like wedding mints.

Lego Last Supper is on Amazon. It’s not “really” Lego but Lego-like. There are other similar products by companies other than Lego. There’s also The Brick Bible (Old and New Testaments and Minecrafters Bible. They’re cool.

I know the masses can’t vote on who should receive the life size St Francis, but my vote would be for young Oliver eight years old to receive it. Perhaps the SEC would consider this friendly suggestion.

Love the My Mass kit. Kids have been playing church, including but not limited to Mass – oh, probably from the beginning. Remember the baptism in Oh, “Ye Jigs and Juleps”? And a friend’s little boy, now an adult, used to hold up a potato chip, snap it in half, and say very seriously, “Jesus Christ.” For all I know, he’s a bishop somewhere now.

After two rounds, totaling 24 internet votes that pit SAINTS against each other as they battle in brackets for a Golden Halo, people complain about the level of kitsch? Isn’t the very concept of Lent Madness kitschy? Didn’t we pass “extreme mega kitsch” roughly 37 seconds into Lent Madness?

The idea of Lent Madness is fun and I would follow it no matter what, but I am impressed that is so well done! The amount of work and creativity that goes into it… I have no words except Thank You!

Any complainers should have to pay a fee!
