He was martyred for workers’ rights on November 19, one hundred years ago. That is just a few days ago. I think such a hero ought to be in the mix, since his life was so Christ-like. He dared to venture where he knew it was very likely that he would have to give up his life, and, just like Christ, he went anyway.
It times like today, people of enormous power have set themselves the task of eviscerating all power from the worker. We really need to take these examples of those who ventured much for the liberties we today enjoy, lest we too lose everything. All it takes is more of the indifference we see all around us for the forces of evil to win the world.
