What Does the Fox Say? Lent Madness is Awesome

We can now add “as seen on TV” to the list of accolades for Lent Madness, thanks to a brief report on Fox News. Various versions of the news clip have been aired on dozens of stations across the nation to the consternation of viewers everywhere. The clip quotes SEC member Tim Schenck and Lent Madness devotee Wendy Claire Barrie from New York, NY. SEC member Scott Gunn was quoted saying, “They left me out. Fox News is dead to me! Oh, wait, they already were. Well, now they’re really cooked!”

Of course, that’s not the only video game in town. Our own network, LentMadnessTV, has an update for the week from the archbishops. Tune in to get the latest commentary from everyone’s favorite (deceased) color commentators, Archbishops Thomas Cranmer and John Chrysostom.

If you’re bored today trying to survive Lent Madness Withdrawal until the voting resumes Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. EDT, why not shop in the Lentorium? Or stock up on books from our Celebrity Bloggers. See you Monday!

So what does the Fox say? It’s not just “fair and balanced” politics any more. They’ve finally moved into substantive reporting. Let’s see the likes of PBS and CNN keep up with that. We dare you to send a TV truck to interview the entire SEC.

Sorry, Scott, no kudos to the SEC for making Fox News. Don’t watch them except for their 10 pm local news here.

I could make an equally snippy comment about another network, say MSNBC, but what would that – or your swipe – add to the enjoyment and information of Lent Madness?

Hey, folks, at least some of “those people” might get interested in Lent Madness and see the light. “God moves in mysterious ways.” (Which is holy talk for “God is pretty sneaky.” What do their Graces Cranmer and Chrysostom think?

This report is on the local Fox boston station not the 24-hour news channel. BIG Difference. I suggest folks know the facts before laying on the hate. Besides it’s good publicity for a fun idea. Peace & Love.

Also, for the record, this was indeed the actual national FOX News that interviewed us about Lent Madness. The story was aired all over the country on local FOX affiliates (we just happened to share the Boston edition) and also, I believe, on the FOX News channel. Their chief religion reporter, Lauren Green, was the one who interviewed me. While I was prepared for anything, the whole FOX team was very professional, respectful, and pleasant to work with.

Ahhhh the beauty of diversity as accepted and promoted in the Episcopal church and now meeting up in LentMadness. Over 50 years an Episcopalian, a conservative and a constant watcher of Fox. I love you all even though my stomach turns over sometimes. At LentMadness we get to meet and greet in the name of our Lord. Amen

So cool that you’re making the big time, SEC!

Also, I just wanted to let you know that I have my LM bracket on my office door (I work at a university) and I have several people who stop by to check updates now–my boss even asked for a bracket of her own. A colleague (professor of classics, actually) told me today that “it’s so cool that there are still good ideas” like LM.

This is such a great concept, and I’m so glad others are realizing it!
